Counseling

Most of us have things about ourselves we would like to change, and most of us simultaneously resist changing what is familiar about ourselves. During periods of life transitions, we are presented with change in the external circumstances of our lives that may challenge our familiar ways of managing. It is useful at such times to have a safe, supportive and neutral environment in which to explore our ways of thinking, behaviors we may not understand, or our feelings about the life change. If we have suffered a loss, whether through a death, a divorce, even a child leaving home, an opportunity to grieve and eventually to re-weave the tapestry of our life can be invaluable.

Some of the influences that may bring clients to counseling include:

  • death of a loved one
  • recurrent marital problems
  • divorce
  • uncertainty about a major life decision
  • parenting concerns
  • blended family problems
  • employment difficulties
  • questions about managing ill parents
  • worry about feelings of anger, anxiety and/or depression
